Is That Cool or What

New products new web services and just way cool design

Web 2.0 Tools

New Year new blog. I need to branch out and this seems to be the best place

There is a new class of web services that have been given the the collective name web 2.0. Some people have said this is just a buzz word. I think there is something going on here and will change the way we use the Internet. Here is a survey

I suppose the first thing to look at is a good start page, three come to mind

Netvibes is a very highly touted one
Protopage is interesting and I’ve played around with it is a little buggy yet
Google/ig is the one I’ve been using for a few months now and I love it

For a calender

planzo is far and away the best the only thing I regret is I just don’t have many things in my life to schedule. There are others CalenderHub and Kiko

For a Photo site

Flickr is my favorite it’s now a Yahoo company so it has big backing behind it and it’ll stick. but there are others
23 looks interesting
Photobucket is my daughters favorite

Once you have enough pictures that you have trouble finding things

Riya is a tool for photo recognition I have yet to try it out.

If your just looking for information

Wikipedia is one of the best things that has happened on the Internet

This page is written in

Writely it has all the functionality of Word except it is all stored on the web and is ideal if your going to collaboration, share with someone accross the office or across the world.

To expand your musical taste try

Pandora you really open up to lots of new music I love it.

Social bookmarking is an interesting phenom

Digg is my favorite and I check it a couple times a day
Del.icio.us is also very good and is probably used by more people but it takes some getting use to
Shadows is new, at least to me, and I’ll be checking it out.

There is an interesting new search engine

Wink incorporates social bookmarking into the search. You not only see search results but see sites other people have bookmarked.

If you need a To Do List (I’ve just been using the one in planzo) there are a couple

voo2do and Remember the Milk this has to get points just for the great name

AjaxTranslator is just what it says it is type in one box and it translates to the other

43 Things is a very interesting site for building comunity see what people want to do with thier lives. The associated sites 43 People and 43 Places are worth checking out too.
